Being in LA

Being in LA always reminds me why I chose this path.

So much of the work we do in VFX and CG is solitary: headphones on, eyes on the screen, often working from home or in dark offices, far from the audience and sometimes even far from our teams. But here, driving past studio lots, walking past billboards, seeing posters for projects you or your friends worked on, is a reminder that we’re part of something bigger.

A creative ecosystem that’s been entertaining, educating and inspiring people for over a hundred years.

I know the business here has been struggling recently. Between strikes, economic shifts and technological disruption, a lot of incredibly talented people have left or are in limbo. But moving through this city, you still feel the beating heart of a global community.

I’m feeling very much connected to that community this week, and very grateful to be a part of it.
